ITALIAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY PRIORITIES
1. Pro-growth Economic Policies
Policies that aim to reverse the outflow of good jobs and tax payers from Illinois through: 1) pro-small business incentives; 2) lower income and property taxes for businesses and individuals; and 3) reduced bureaucratic regulations.
2. Reduce Crime / Support Our Police
Key priorities: 1) enforce laws for serious crime, including those involving illegal guns; 2) crack down on gang violence; and 3) increase funding and training for police
3. Promote Unity and Social Healing
Celebrating our tremendous diversity while respecting the traditions and heritage of all groups. For Italian-Americans, this includes restoring the Columbus Statues and continuing to celebrate Columbus Day.
4. Improving Schools
Policies that focus on: 1) improving academic excellence by increasing focus on building core skills (reading, writing, math, science, technology, history and civics); 2) empowering parents with school choice options; 3) reducing administrative costs; 4) increasing options for trade schools; and 5) age appropriate social and sex education, with parental consent
5. Increasing Confidence in the Political Process
Enacting strong code of ethics and political/voting reforms designed to: 1) discourage politicians from putting personal or party interests before those of the citizens; 2) curtailing the influence of lobbyists and outside interests; and 3) promoting election processes that minimize the risk of fraud while maximizing access to voting for all.
